About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

zix is a nonsense word I made up.

I am an American learning to live in Canada.

Requisite MeFi recipe: Julia Child's Cherry Clafouti

1 1/4 cup milk
2/3 cup sugar, divided
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup flour
3 cups cherries, pitted
powdered sugar, for garnish

* Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
* Combine milk, 1/3 cup sugar, eggs, vanilla, salt and flour.
* Lightly butter an 8-cup baking dish and pour 1/4 inch layer of the blended mixture on the bottom. Set remaining batter aside.
* Place dish in the oven for about 7 - 10 minutes, until a film of batter sets in the pan but the mixture is not baked through yet. Remove from oven, but don't turn off the oven.
* Distribute the pitted cherries over the set batter in the pan, then sprinkle with the remaining sugar (or less).
* Pour the remaining batter over the cherries and sugar.
* Bake for 45 - 60 minutes, until the clafouti is puffed and brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
* Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
