About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
My nick is really boring, because it's basically just my name - first two letters of my first name, first letter of my second name. But I think it's aesthetically pleasing, especially set in Verdana where the dot of the i is above the other letters. I've been using it online since I started using IRC.
Then I found out it's a woman's name in Scandanavia, but oh well.
The internet to me is all about communication. I didn't start using IRC until about 96, which was actually long after I was first using the net. In the early days (I first logged on in 93) I spent most of my time on a MUD and reading Usenet. I suppose those of us who remember being excited by Mosaic are in the great minority of web users now..
