About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
A quick cat-scan has revealed that I had tripped over baby MetaFilter while lunching in South Park, summer of '99.
"I am more addictive than crack!" the adorable tyke said. "We'll see about that," I said, proceeded to pop the tops off the spark plugs of the nearest motorcycle and never looked back.
What I have found, in my years lurking here, is that if there is a train-wreck in progress I have to go look, thus the name. The bigger the doodle-bug going off the rails, the better.
While I understand how easy it is to get caught up in wide brush sweeping generalizations, I feel it is important to examine and appreciate the essence that is Rube.
Still bestowing the resinous faves.
Pet my pet croutons!
