About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
LuxFX was the name of my first 'company.' It was never registered as a company, but that was the name of my first website when I was just starting out doing freelance web design. Since then the website has grown old and dusty, and has been replaced by the much snazzier DreamDynamics. But I still liked the LuxFX name.
The name itself comes from the latin word lux, meaning light. It's currently used as a scientific unit of illumination (the illumination one candle provides from a distance of one foot), but I used it from the latin meaning. LuxFX, or Light Effects, was my way of describing my perspective on design and digital art.
I started using LuxFX as my online handle, and it turned out to be a very good one! I've found no other LuxFX anywhere on the net, and when I google for it, the only pages that come up that have nothing to do with me are images or pdfs or something, where LUXFX was just a coincidental sequence in a binary file. It's served me well :)
