About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
Starting in 1968 I was a roadie for a San Francisco rock band. In 1970 I took up bicycling.
In 1979 my friend Gary Fisher and I rented a garage to build bikes in. We made a new type of bike and called our company "MountainBikes."
Starting in 1976 I promoted a new type of bike racing, downhill on a steep dirt road, a place we called "Repack."
We changed the world of bicycling forever.
You can buy my book Fat Tire Flyer: Repack and the Birth of Mountain Biking, on Amazon or at any bookstore.
