What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" For the historical record, this is where I came out. I'm aware that I may have taken over the thread in a way that was unfair and inappropriate. The poster chose to delete the thread and, ultimately, shutter their entire account. If I misbehaved, I'm genuinely remorseful, but the response in the thread itself was universally supportive and I was never issued any form of administrative reprimand. In any event, sure, MetaFilter isn't perfect when it comes to dealing with trans issues, but I'm happy it's as good as it is, and I love that I and so many of my trans siblings have been made to feel like welcome community members here.
