About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
My nickname is, stunningly enough, my name. Well, the unusual spelling is actually a holdover from high school (a friend used to spell it weirdly for reasons forever lost to me), but it lived into college and now I use it as a stage name (sets me off from the generic pile of "Scott" actors out there). In fact, it looks weird to me if friends spell it "correctly;" fortunately, none of them ever do. Skot it is.
Wasn't that a great story? :::Cough:::
I got started on the "net" (all right . . . AOL, dammit . . . look, I'm not exactly the savviest piece of meat on the planet, but I came around) in 1993. I immediately dove into a bunch of trivia chat rooms and languished there for a while. Then a few years ago, some suckers hired me to do cancer research, coughed up a nice PC with a T-1 line, and I could really get drowning in information. I've been looking for air ever since.
