About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

I'm a lady geek working in the health care field, mainly studying and developing interventions to improve population health. I work from a home I share with two fellow MeFites, a dog, four demanding cats, and fifteen bajillion computers. My great loves in life are reading, writing, biking, participating in online media fandom and watching terrible tv.

Demographically, I'm an Ace white American ciswoman living in the Northeast United States, working on understanding and dismantling my privilege and becoming more effectively anti-racist. Mistakes will be made, but I'll try to avoid them, and I welcome corrections along the way.

For most of my life I was disabled, and I'm permanently immunocompromised; I tend to speak from those experiences when discussing topics related to health and ability.

I used to be kythuen, but I changed my account name for reasons. My new account name is from an Albert Camus quote I've always liked: "In the midst of winter, I finally found there was, within me, an invincible summer."
