About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

Eastern Blot is a non-existent biochemical technique.

A certain Mr. Southern invented a way to label and detect DNA separated by size. It was called "Southern Blot". Later, the technique was adapted for RNA and called "Northern Blot". "Western Blot" was the name given to a similar method for proteins.
There is no fourth type of molecule in the DNA-RNA-protein group, so there never will be an Eastern Blot, which is why I thought it would make a good domain/screen name.

When I don't explain it, most people don't get it, but the best reactions are when people do know what eastern blot refers to and ask me if I'm a biochemist. Yup, I am. (2020 edit: Well, I was in 2005 when I created my account!)
