What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

So you know some small part of what you've lost, know that onlyconnect started out as the poorest kid in her elementary school and worked hard enough and long enough to become one of the poor kids that made it to Yale, where she graduated with honors. On her own she moved to a new city in a new part of the country to become a lawyer, and in court she used her skill, her passion and her knowledge to protect battered immigrant women and their rights.

Woman, feminist, mother, achiever, risk-taker, and defender of the vulnerable. That's who you've made feel unwelcome and out of place in the new MetaFilter.

I hope that what you think you're getting is worth what you are definitely losing.
