About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
Well, my nickname started out in a much longer form (CrushedPerfection, stupid and overly angsty sounding, I know). Basically it was something that came off the top of my head one night when signing onto IRC. Eventually everyone, including myself, shortened it to Crushed.
The internet isn't a place for freaks? I think I've been hanging out at the wrong sites...Anyway, I suppose what I loved about it first was the ability to connect with people I would normally never have the chance to know. The artistic and writing talent that I saw all around was also a big plus. I remember 0sil8 and Kottke being part of my introduction to the genre of personal sites and weblogs (though thankfully that word wasn't around yet) which I immediately fell in love with. I guess because it combined the people connection with the talent.
I should have something funny to say here, damnit.
