About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

How I got my nickname is a huge story involving stolen diamonds, explosions, a car chase through the streets of Rome, and three elephants all named Bongo who need to get across the country in an elaborate plan to save a circus and a dying hospital patient known as "cancer boy".

Well it might if Hollywood made a movie about it, but the real story is perhaps less interesting so I will save you the time.

I was one of those lurkers of metafilter going back to about August 2001 or so. I'm not sure what took me so long to sign up, but one day I decided that I really should pay up my fair share for enjoying the site. Well.... that and membership was finally opened up after a long dry spell of being closed and I thought I'd better jump in the pool before it closed again one day.

My first computer when I was a little kid was a coco2. Why do I include that in my profile information? Really, I don't know, except to say that we have come a long way from those days.
