What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

My handle is my first name, simple as that. It's pronounced shawn-door, but fortunately it doesn't really matter in a purely written-based medium, as this one is. I use Sandy in real life, because having to explain how to pronounce Sandor every time in introduce myself gets annoying.

In college, my email address was ferris@, because I was a geeky Ferris Bueller fan, and clearly not a very clever one at that. I got rid of it as soon as I realized that naming myself after a movie character was pretty stuipd.

Now I use santheo, which is an amalgam of my first and second names, Sandor and Theodore. It tends to be available when I have to create new accounts to use a site. I would have used it when I signed on to Metafilter, if I had thought of it by then. So it goes.
