About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
"grubby?" - it's just one of those words that come easily to mind, and did come to my mind when I set up my first linux network in Oakland in 1997. My internal network was grubby.com; when I finally got around to thinking about buying the domain I'd missed .com by 4 days, so I settled for grubby.net.
Once I started using that domain for my personal email, it became a meatspace moniker. Later I started to use it as an internet nick (I'd previously been 'tom')
