About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

Since many have MeMailed me about "History of the Joke," mentioned in the Gallagher thread, here's some further info:

I hope I didn't sound too down on HOTJ itself. It's still the best thing I've done, TV-wise. But yes, it could have been better. Lewis Black told a joke about bear-human sodomy that I will regret not including til the day I die; there was a tear-jerking and hilarious segment on Richard Pryor that I had to yank out because no one wanted to spend the money for archival footage; and Patton Oswalt told an epic joke about a filthy limerick told by an old woman that brought the house down, but was cut in favor of a blah segment with a big-name hack who shall remain nameless.

Still, I'm really proud of the show, and if you'd like to own it -- go for it. You can buy it from Amazon or direct from the History Channel store. You can also rent it (legally) from iTunes for 3.99, but you have to search specifically for it.

Since it was on cable, nobody but AETN benefits financially from your purchase of the show. But if you want to do a solid for the freelancers who worked on the project and the comedians who appeared in it, easiest thing to do is give it a positive and/or thoughtful review on Amazon or IMDB. The latter shows up on the individual pages of all involved, and may, in a small way, help them get more work!

Feel free to MeMail me any questions, comments, crammed-fowl recipes, etc.

Cheers,

Dave
