After kicking around CompuServe on and off since 1986, I finally ended up on the Internet in the early 90s where I discovered the joys of Usenet: conversing with people halfway across the world about the same obscure indie bands, learning the real meaning of "signal-to-noise" ratio and how to use a killfile.
