About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

At about the time I moved to Utah for a job, Q introduced the Borg to the Federation in Star Trek: TNG. Since the monkier of the Beehive State is about collectivism, and the theme of the Borg subplot was the futility of resistance in the face of millions of minds, I settled on "CollectiveMind" as my nickname.

I tend to take my time with things, which is why I joined in 2007 but it took until 2020 for me to decide to finally add this explanation. I've looked at it for 13 years, but posted it only now. That tendency can be a blessing and a curse.
