What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

I'm upset about how this site has become a proving ground for people that casually make accusations of racism and bigotry with impunity. I'd really like to delete my account and spare you all my vitriol, but I want all my previous posts deleted first as a way cull my online presence due to NSA blanket surveillance. So if my posts are going to remain, I might as well leave something behind. The magic has gone from here. What was once a place of deep, honest conversation is now a community of easily-offended cowards who want to point out other's wrongs without acknowledging that they're own humanity and shortcomings. Metafilter used to be a haven from punditry, but has just become another venue for calling people mean names under the guise of enlightenment and political-correctness.
