About
What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.
I *was* on a mefi break for a while; the moderation had gotten a little too intense for my taste. When I came back, I discovered that either things had gotten worse, or I've just gotten too old -- used to be we ripped people stylish new assholes on the Grey; now I see we do it right out in public.
I doubt I'll be back.

A long, long time ago... in a house not very far from here (:-) I independently reinvented Unified Messaging, and registered the domain baylink.com so I'd have a place to put it when I finally scammed some rich person out of the cash necessary to implement it and rent it to people.
Needless to say, that never quite worked out (:-{), but as the Internet grows, my customary handle (jra; I've been jra@something almost as long as there's been DNS; 1983, I think) is more and more often taken. I'm not yet having that problem with baylink, which is why you see it here.
