What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

Where'd it come from? My high school biology class of course. Sad, but true. I've been using this (among others) as a handle since '89 or so. This one has stuck because I've yet to run into someone else who wants to name themselves after the urinary tract of insects. And, as it turns out, a typo too (it's supposed to be malpighian, but that doesn't sound as good, right?)

Besides, every so often I get to delight a Entomologist with the reference.
