About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

I'm Mizufae, also known as Mizu, or Sarah. I'm very consistent in my online identity.

Check my carrd for links to my various online profiles and pictures of my cats.

My nickname is simply the word for "water" in Japanese. I chose it when I was 14, and it's stuck over two decades. Unfortunately it is a very common word, so I usually have to register as Mizufae on most sites, another holdover from years past. I am very consistent with using that nickname throughout all of my various online identities, so I'm easy to find. In a crowd, you are more likely to get my attention if you shout "Mizu" than if you shout my real name, which is the ever so common and often misspelled "Sarah" (yes, the H is important to me.)

Who am I? I make messes and think too much and enjoy not wearing pants.

I've been reading Metafilter since some time around 2001, but I didn't get an account until January 09 because I didn't have anything compelling to ask or post until then, and every question I could have helped answer would get answered by the next day at the latest.

That changed and now I'm here. Fascinating!

I really, REALLY like it when my favorites count is in a nice round number. Do with that what you will. I also wish that instead of the word "favorites" we used the word "beans".
