About

What's the deal with your nickname? How did you get it? If your nickname is self-explanatory, then tell everyone when you first started using the internet, and what was the first thing that made you say "wow, this isn't just a place for freaks after all?" Was it a website? Was it an email from a long-lost friend? Go on, spill it.

m.polo is email address that would have been assigned to medieval explorer, journalist and all around party guy, Marco Polo, in the first naming scheme we used at GlobeDominatingMegaCorp. Polo has been a favorite character of mine since I was a child and as an adult I have visited Venice, Beijing, Xian and Damascus at least partially because, well, he went there, too.

BTW, "GlobeDominatingMegaCorp" is just about all my employment contract allows me to say. Think conglomerate that owns recognizable name brands in your kitchen, your bathroom, your basement, your garage and your car; think very, very high tech; think non-US... If you guess correctly, I'll deny it anyway (if you guess correctly twice, the GDMC Security Squad will hunt you down and kill you, I think...) You can either believe me when I say that I have fifteen years in the computer industry and eight on what's become the World Wide Web - or not. But you don't have access to any work I've done unless you also work for GlobeDominatingMegaCorp somewhere on the planet where the full-load backbone has been installed, so my word is all I have to offer.
