Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles is a charming puzzle game developed in Costa Rica that pays homage to games like Puzzle Fighters, Super Mario World and Bejeweled. Available for free on PC (Windows & Linux). (via DIYGamer)

Super glad to see this show up here. The game is fun and charming, the music and sound are professional, really polished overall. Plus they have Literally The Best Support Model Ever: You send them $24 and a picture of your own self and you get a custom-made avatar in the game.

Linux link is being blocked as "malicious" by my proxy. But even if it weren't--downloading a random setup.exe from the Internet? Not a great thing to encourage.

This game is so fucking hard. Fun thou, and it does a good job of easing you into it. Then it adds expert time chains D:

I'm not sure what you mean, DU. The second link goes to a thread in their forum where one of the developers posted a beta version for Linux.

And that link is blocked by my proxy, which labels it "malicious". I don't know why--it's a work proxy. (Forums not generally blocked, obvs.)

Oh man. Super Puzzle Fighter is one of the GREATEST GAMES OF ALL TIME. Must try this one.

I'm stoked to try this based solely on the way the developers reacted to the request for a Linux version. Good people, oughta be good stuff.

Bah. What we need are more Tetris Attack/Puzzle-de-Pon inspired games!

Bejeweled? No thanks! Puzzle Fighter? Never really took to it... (Pocket Fighter, on the other hand...)

I'm getting too old for games like this. Well done though.

Looks fun, but I'm not downloading a game that says that some players have played the story mode for over 100 hours. That's not a game; that's a marriage.

I think it's so silly that enormous gameplay length has become an aspiration and that gamers criticize games for being too short. I would play this game if I could finish it in five hours.

Mac version?

I've been looking for a good browser version of Puzzle Fighters for years… I used to play it all the time at the arcade in the student union in college, and got damn good at it. But then I made the horrible mistake of graduating and haven't seen it since.

I don't think that's a requirement to beat or enjoy the game, just a testament to some people loving the game THIS MUCH and playing it repeatedly.

I love Super Puzzle Fighter. So often the derivatives miss the glory of the original. I'll be interested to see how this does.

I do love puzzle games, but I fear nothing will ever live up to my favorite, Money Puzzle Exchanger. *sigh* I wonder if I bought a cartridge of it if I could donate it to somewhere local with a neo geo cabinet and get to play it.

I think I may have played Money Puzzle Exchanger a little too much actually - watching people bumbling around in the game on youtube makes me want to reach into youtube, grab the player by the lapels and shout at them for playing poorly. Luckily for them, I cannot do this.

oh god, Super Puzzle Fighter. That game sucked me into a free video game parlor and didn't let go of me for hours.
