I now appreciate even more that I have friends who know me well enough to send me plush Cthulu toys as a gift, because as a result, i was pre-equipped for this thread and the ensuing sharp desire to hug the shit out of a Cthulu after reading it.

You take shoggoths out for a shamble, not a walk.
Technically, you follow behind your shoggoth as it pushes its immense horrific bulk on a vast host of temporary limbs through tunnels polished smooth my aeons of the nauseating locomotion of its kind, which doesn't really count as a shamble. You walk behind, because that way the noisome vapor driven through the passage before the creature doesn't induce that cough that you are getting more and more often as the names ages pass.
In the shoggoths' native habitat, the albino eyeless penguins long ago ate all the poodles, so it's not surprising that pet shoggoths should be alarmed at the sight of the yappy dogs.

Well, Mr.C's shoggoth isn't exactly a young puddle anymore. Once they reach the proud age of 10 eons, quite a few shoggoths have trouble managing a proper shamble.

Shambles should always be improper. "Proper" implies they are something other than That Which SHOULD NOT BE.

Well, Mr. Cthulhi's shoggoth is definitely the thing that should not be on my lawn. I have talked and talked to him about this, but he keeps letting his amorphous pile of protoplasm mess on my flower beds. The last straw was when he claimed that "he was not dead but dreaming on a Sunday afternoon, and the beast got out on its own." I'll be writing a stern letter to the R'lyeh City Council, I can tell you! We have laws in this city, let me remind you; laws in violation of those of God and man!
