Alternate explanation: he's actually 25 years old, but things are just that bad in Russia that he looks 3 times his age.

In fact, that did kinda cross my mind.

He seems happy, but honestly all I can think is that busking is a hard way to feed yourself, especially at that age.

Sounds quite good.
Too bad that internet approval doesn't do him any good. He might not be aware he's on youtube.

Yeah, I hear you. Tell you something, though: "internet approval" very often doesn't do "any good" to those who *know* they're on YouTube, either.

Oh don't even get me started on buskr.com, it's just Game of Throne macro after Game of Throne macro.

Shit. I'm getting old.

Beats the alternative. Or, maybe it doesn't, but we'll all find out soon enough. Til then, hey, keep on rockin' in the free world. Or the not-so-free world. But definitely, keep rockin'.

I'd be more receptive if he were playing the flute and wearing a minstrel's suit, but ok.

Dude, I ain't linking to Ian Anderson. That's just not gonna happen.

actually, I do have a soft spot for Benefit, Aqualung and Thick as a Brick, but still...

I'm glad to know you're never too old to rock.

But I think I already knew this. I've been to RUSH concerts where there were literally 3 generations attending together -- grandparents, parents, and teenage kids.

Part of me finds this disconcerting. Another part of me finds it utterly charming and wonderful.

I could never abide Aqualung. As soon as he sings "Snot is running down his nose ..." he loses me.

Dude, Aqualung the album is much much more than Aqualung the song.

Yeah, some of those lyrics can get pretty stupid. Meanwhile, Lennon can write "yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dog's eye" and it's just... so much better. Go figure.

Oh, and yeah, what hippybear said. The album's pretty good overall. But the lyrics are actually the weakest point, for me, throughout.

well, those 3 albums were when jethro tull were still a band and not just an extension of ian anderson's massive artistic ego

I'd say you're probably right. He could be in his 50's, say.

I like how he's carrying a shopping bag. Like, "Oh, I was just picking up some socks at the store, but did you want to rock? Because I can rock if you'd like."

Reminds me of this other Eastern European video flapjax found. Still seems cruel and condescending to me. Things are really bad for the elderly in many parts of Eastern Europe.

No, no, no. It's horrible and we kinda let it slide because things like Instant Karma! or The Day in the Life are good enough to make up for it.

ShutterBun: The rare exception

Oddly, that link actually ties into this thread in a number of ways. Ted Williams became an internet "viral" star, and got coverage in mainstream media, with coverage on RT News (previously known as Russia Today), as seen in ShutterBun's clip.

You mean, like Makka, or Robert Plant, or Judas Priest, or Jethro Tull...

Not sure if there are any older acts than that gang who are actually touring and not just doing PBS "My Music" specials. Even the Stones haven't toured in quite a few years at this point.

This guy is good. The PURE PASSION OF ROCK AND ROLL will never die!

jeffamaphone, John Prine is looking so much older. I knew him by the voice but not the face.

Of course the real reason that it concerns me that many of my musical gods are aging is that it all relates back to me, me, me. Yikes.

I grow old, I grow old,
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.

Yep.

There are, if you go looking. I can get behind seeing every one of the acts you listed. In addition, some of my favorites:

Leonard Cohen (born 1934) was touring Europe as of 2010, it seems.

And Chuck Berry (born 1927) is still playing at least once a month, though mostly regional focused around St. Louis. But he's not looking to good in the recent videos I've found. I saw him 10 years ago at Blueberry Hill and he was still schralping it.
