Coming in to say that it looks like training for this, and then I realized that quin must have a thing for jumping dogs.

I can't double dutch. But I don't eat my own poop and don't have fleas, so there's that.

You have to get your own food and your ability to lick yourself is also severely limited, so that is another couple for the minus side. Plus, I am betting that no one picks you up to reward you for your Frisbee catching skills, either. It's a dog's life, indeed.

I used to be able to perform double jumps with a rope inside of a double dutch. I miss jumping rope. That dog is awesome.

Dogs just have the best attitude about everything! The way they play, they way they like to eat, they way the like attention. I truly believe they are the enlightened creatures on this planet. They have figured out how to get another species to do everything for them so they can play eat and sleep. That is my dream life.

All my dog knows how to do is follow the kids around at bedtime, occupying any seat or pillow or place on the mattress that the kids just vacated, and curling up in the warmth.

What do you think the stick in the middle is about? Do you think they trained the dog to follow a particular pattern of jumps over that? I'm guessing he might not be able to track the rope movement entirely and the stick is some sort of aid?
And thanks for the inspiration for my cat's next trick! I just got her jumping through a hoop on command, but then I went away for a few days and she's a little dim, so she took a while this morning to remember what the hoop was for. (She tried performing all her OTHER tricks on it, just in case, but eventually recalled that you jump through the round thing; you don't high-five it.) Next up, skipping!

She explains about the stick in the comments: "To the lovely people that are asking about the stick on the ground. I trained Mo to jump behind the stick. It has nothing to do with the ropes itself. ... The stick is there to keep her in the middle of the ropes, as i found out by teaching my other dogs to jump with just one rope, that they all want to jump right on top of you or into you really closely. "
