Li Hongbo's flexible paper sculptures are incredible. Li Hongbo makes the sculptures by manually gluing sheet upon sheet of paper together to make 3D objects which bend and flex in mindbending ways. Portfolio and bio (slightly NSFW), and more pictures and videos of the sculptures in action.
Gotta make a skull accordion.

I'm curious how these are displayed in an exhibition. Statically they're interesting, but seeing them being manipulated is better. Maybe they have video installations alongside them?

Yeah, it's tricky, isn't it? They're not really interesting unless you manipulate them, but if you do a lot of that they'll presumably wear out. Cool idea, though.

One of the pictures in the portfolio link shows a human sculpture with its head extended onto an adjacent shelf, so I suppose that's one way.

It reminds me of being in elementary school and being obsessed with the texture of the accordion-paper shapes on the bulletin boards (I might not be describing them well -- things like these wedding bells). I would ruffle the paper so much it would destroy the structural integrity.
I want to play with this sculpture SO BAD.
