What the hell does that mean, huh? Hogwarts is here, I don't even know what the hell that means, all I know is this "Vol Demort" character comes out of thin air in the middle of a goddamn alley while his buddies are flying around on wires zapping everybody to death, and he just stands there waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him, with a snake coming out of his mouth!

It's another RPing site, right? Why would this one get taken down and not, say, every other roleplaying, fanfiction and fanart site on the entire internet? Doesn't Harry Potter related material make up like 2-4% of the entire internet by volume?

It's another RPing site, right? Why would this one get taken down and not, say, every other roleplaying, fanfiction and fanart site on the entire internet? Doesn't Harry Potter related material make up like 2-4% of the entire internet by volume?
Well, for starters they're using a trademark in the domain name. If it's not "hogwartssucks.com," it's not that hard to claim cybersquatting and sue for the domain.

To be perfectly honest, I'm surprised the copyright holders themselves didn't think of doing this a long time ago. It now seems like an obvious thing to do.

I suspect that they've got one of those random ad servers that will buy ads from just about anyone. (I got the Mormons a couple of times, amusingly enough. Not as amusingly, I also got a Download button for something called videosconverter, which sounds fishy, to say the least, especially since the on-page link doesn't say what it's for and might give the impression that it's necessary to use the site.)

There is good value in a Hufflepuff education, and more and more often young witches and wizards are choosing Hufflepuff for its excellent Wizard:pupil ratio, manageable tuition, excellent housing benefits along with it's superb RoI. Some are Hufflepuffs for their first few years before transferring to more well known houses. Hufflepuff is a STEM (Sorcery, Transformation, Expiliarum, Muggle-Studies) school, which we all know is what matters in a modern magical education. Slytherin and Griffindor, by contrast, continue to push its Defense Against the Dark Arts major, which is well known to be an over-saturated job market.

Pottermore doesn't really involve taking classes, it's more an interactive guide to the books. There are some elements that involve being in a class of some kind, but (asides from the Potions side game) they only really appear if they're part of the plot.

I would just like to say that in 1999, my best friends and I built a Hogwarts Online website using Homestead site templates and it was awesome and I taught History of Magic and did all the graphics for the school. We graded papers, gave tests, built a functioning shopping cart to allow users to buy supplies in Diagonal Alley, and even had plans to build a Beauxbatons Academy when GoF came out. At our highest enrollment period we had something like 300 people playing. I owe my entire career to that site, as weird as it may sound.
That Pottermore barely comes close to the level of detail and quality a bunch of 6th graders were able to achieve using a site builder will be a longstanding point of pride for me always.
TLDR: This site. I like it.

Hufflepuff - 77,201 points / 11,046 students = 6.989 pphm
Ravenclaw - 164,382 points / 23,181 students = 7.091 pphm
Slytherin - 117,549 points / 17,695 students = 6.643 ppm
Hard work and loyalty are all well and good, but at the end of the day you also need to be able to come up with the right answer.

Hermione Granger: Could you tell me more about your career? I was pretty active in fandom website making (bands and TV shows: I was more on the periphery of HP fandom then) as a teen and attribute a lot of my current life path to those fandom forays, and would like to know more from others who've done the same!

I was homewizardschooled as a kid. Also, I never got a Potions education, because my mom read an article by that one witch who used to be in the nudie mags claiming that potions cause autism.

I'm not really a Potter fan (seriously, have never made it more than 1/3 through the first book), but I've seen some of the movies and they're alright.
Hogwarts seems to me to be like uber-Eton, except the magic wands are flailed about in public and not just in the showers or after lights out.
I wonder if Rowling ever felt jealous that she couldn't attend Eton or similar. I know there are girls' schools which almost have the same cachet, but it's not the same as being able to say one is an Old Etonian.
