It's really nice to read an article about a site you respect and love and then find out that there's absolutely no reason not to respect and love it. May they never encounter ugly growing pains.

I would just like to thank the donor who gave $1000 to support history articles, because that's awesome.

I would really love a "top five Toast articles" RSS feed, but in the absence of one, I'm glad I have Metafilter to keep me up on the best things from it and now about it. /honestly not being sarcastic.

If you haven't yet read Mallory Ortberg's piece on "The Simpsons" character Edna Krabappel, hie thee to yon portal.

All of her essays on the minor Simpsons characters are outstanding but the Ms. Krabappel one was touching to the point of tears.

I read the one on Ralph Wiggum a while back and to be honest, I thought it was a TV-oriented site. Ortberg has obviously watched every Simpsons episode ever (no marathon required) and she really gets it. Now that I've had a chance to look at some of their other stuff it's clear all their writers are top-notch.

I love everything about the Toast, but my absolute favorite thing is Ortberg's recaptioning of famous artworks.

Actually the entire Artwork tag is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Now all they need is a music spinoff in the same vein. The could call it...The Jam
