HOLD DOWN THE A KEY

DAVID LYNCH TEACHES TYPING. HELLO THERE KIDDO! DO YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW TO TYPE? PUT YOUR FINGERS ON THE "HOME ROW." USE YOUR "LEFT INDEX FINGER" AND PRESS THE F KEY.

The guy doing the David Lynch impression is pretty impressive. Also, word of advice: if you think it's crashed, it hasn't. It's not an online game — you have to download, BUT it's available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

I saw this yesterday and was prepared to get a kick out of it, but an exe? No way.

I love David Lynch. I love typing tutors. This should have been my jam.

Alas, it was not my jam.

(also: I believe the game does end when it says it does — at least no one came to assist me — BUT it seems like the app is bigger than I'd expect for how short it is: 316 MB for the Mac version. so perhaps there are easter eggs or I just didn't wait long enough, even though I waited quite a while....)

I also love David Lynch but downloading things is not my jam unless a whole bunch of people tell me that IT'S THE KIND OF APP THAT MAKES THEM WISH THEY TYPED A LITTLE FRENCH.

Downloading now. Never had a malware issue with itch.io applications.

That sounded like Chris Gethard doing a David Lynch impression. And while I love Chris Gethard and David Lynch more than most things, it also was most decidedly NOT an app that made me wish I typed a little French. Or English. Or anything.

I don't know about this game, but it is a bit of a trend for Itch.io indie games to "crash"/shut down as part of the experience, and then continue the game from that point when you restart them.

FWIW, I restarted, and it was the same through, but I only did it once.

PC Gamer liked it, mentioning Easter eggs and the like.

If you're disinclined to install a random executable, there are Let's Plays on YouTube.

While you're right to be somewhat wary of random EXEs, most downloaded executibles on current-day systems are scanned for viruses twice, first by your web browser on download, and again by your system antivirus upon startup, plus there's SmartScreen's checking of programs run according to a database.

None of this will help if you're among the very first people to find a new piece of malware in a game program. But, itch.io isn't some fly-by-night place now. A lot of good software by a lot of rising indies gets distributed and sold there. Caution is laudable, but in this case I really think the game is safe. The fact that there *are* Let's Plays of it, and no one's reported any issues, could be taken as indicative.

This is from the same people from the 2Kawaii4Comfort team, Rhino Stew.

The game is totally safe, I swear.
