That Twitter App looks amazing.

I get where they were going with the Back Start Search Layout. But it really needs to be Start on the left.

I don't know which is more creepy, a mobile Clippy or that freeze frame of fucking Steve Ballmer dancing.

If I still had a windows phone, I might actually pay money to be able to skin/theme it like this.

Isn't this exactly what Windows CE was?

As I remember it, WinCE (aka Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, and maybe Bob Jr. if I blinked) was worse. Microsoft used to put on an annual junket for proto-gadget-bloggers where they'd get flown to Redmond, wined, dined, entertained, and given a backpack stuffed with merch, including a WinCE device, and even that couldn't get people excited about it. The only deal killer is that GIF of Ballmer; even Clippy is second (although a close second) to that sweat-soaked hominid.

Maybe it's just the nostalgia, but that actually looks really usable.

This would be my dream retro-mobile's OS. Other features would include a monochrome display, a telescoping whip antenna, and wood-veneer trim on all four edges. Plus, square corners.

Mrs. Octo had a couple of Windows based PDAs (remember that term?) that she used for reading ebooks long before Kindle appeared and they looked pretty close to this.

MS putting a start button on a tiny PDA screen that you had to navigate with a stylus was a true landmark of bad UI design.
