. I'm sure that the old Mod Squad episodes hold up pretty poorly but I did love her and that show when it was in syndication during the early seventies and then of course I loved her in Twin Peaks.

Peggy Lipton revealed in her memoir that, in her pre-Mod Squad days, she hooked up with Paul McCartney on the same night John & George introduced Ringo to LSD.

For all her fame and beauty, she led a rough life.

She was definitely a crush for a lot of late Baby Boomer/early Gen X men. I remember Salem the cat on Sabrina the Teenage Witch (the ABC sitcom version, not the Netflix grimdark version) had a huge crush on Peggy Lipton.

Wow. Mod Squad, Norma Jennings, Quincy Jones, Rashida, Paul McCartney. Donovan wrote songs for recording career. That’s a lot of dots I had not connected until today.

She also appeared in an episode of Angie Tribeca as Angie’s mother.

Quincy_Jones ...In 1957 he settled in Paris, where he studied composition and theory with Nadia Boulanger and Olivier Messiaen

The same Nadia Boulanger who rejected Leonard Bernstein as a student, he just didn't have the natural talent she demands. And Olivier Messiaen on top of it? That's the deepest end of the pool.

A year or two ago, Kid Ruki and I stayed at my father in law’s house during a blizzard when the mister’s flight home was delayed. My FIL was flipping through the channels and stopped at an episode of The Mod Squad.

“The actress in this is (my late MIL’s) second cousin,” he said nonchalantly. Kid Ruki and I, both Twin Peaks fans, squealed with delight.

“Norma is Janie’s cousin?!”

My FIL is not very hip to pop culture, so to him, she was just cousin Peggy from The Mod Squad. He had no idea about Twin Peaks, her marriage to Quincy Jones, or that she had two daughters who are also actors.

It was really amusing to tell the mister, when he finally made it home, that his third cousin is Rashida Jones.

Like Peggy Lipton, my MIL was a beautiful woman. They shared the same distinctive chin. Kid Ruki has that chin. It’s a lovely chin.

Anyway, Peggy’s death made me especially miss my MIL. I have a collection of pretty stones on my windowsill and I gave one to the mister before he left for the cemetery yesterday. Janie and Peggy, may their memories be blessings.
