Love this mashup.

I remember all the "SCENE MISSING" title cards in MTV's edit of the "Closer" video.

Little did we all know, the mind-corrupting sexiness they were replacing was pretty-boy yacht rock, all along!

this is so SMOOTH my first thought was "buttered silk". which is a completely gross concept. I love butter. I love silk. I do not need my silk buttered. so yeah, this is 1000% brilliant.

the question in my mind is: is he rejecting the whole "i want to **** you like an animal" request, or just the "like an animal" part?

Who knew that angsty 1990s-style techno-nihilism would age so much worse than gauzy 1980s-style bubblegum R&B?

Long ago, I realized that most NIN radio singles stayed rooted to the one chord the whole song -or at least the chorus. With that, I started humming the descending plunky piano bit from the end of "Closer" over every NIN single I heard on the radio, and it ALWAYS fits. I call it "The Reznor Constant."

I guess all's I'm saying is that while I have boundless appreciation for the genius of Bill McClintock, I wish that plunky piano bit were mixed into this mashup. Otherwise, it's perfect.

So good. For anyone out there who is new to this channel/concept...this guy has so much more (excellent) material. My personal favorite.

Oh, wow. Now you've got me wishing they could have recruited Saxquatch to play the plunky coda. Would really bring it full-circle, y'know?

Maybe the best appropriation of this particular Hall & Oates song since De La Soul's. Thanks; that was entertaining!

That was great, as much for the editing as the music.

4 minutes of Trent Reznor being rejected by Hall and Oates.

I LOLed.

Then looked at his Youtube page, and the numbers that really caught me are ones where he takes some late 80's early 90's metal band and combines with a black soul or funk performer from 10 years earlier. I was in high school in the early 90s, when musical segregation was at its worst. The whole genre of 80's hair bands was the brain child of music promoters who realized they could fill venues with working class white audiences if they purged all visible blackness from the talent. So these mashups showing exactly where the style came from before that purge, it's great art and great justice. So on the nose.

This is really such a wonderful, perky rejoinder to the grossness embodied in the NIN song. Wow. Extremely dated and dorky men, cheerfully noping out of being objectified. Thank you for sharing this.

Then you'll be pleased to hear the folks at SME have jumped into motion to save your productivity, having removed it from Youtube for copyright violations.
