Even A Garbage Can Deserves A Day Out

Aussie Carl Stanojevic got a text from his neighbor asking him if he would take out his neighbor's garbage bin. Being a conscientious neighbor, Stanojevic proceeded to do so. (SLGrauniad)

Highlights of Binnie's Day Out included getting tattoos, a trip to the local bar, seeing the ducks, and other hijinks.

Back in the '80s, we were visiting friends and spent the night after a party, to wake up and find an Elvis lamp (like this, only with more of a bordello-themed lampshade) in the back seat of our car. As this was a tradition these friends had, we were not allowed to return it immediately, so we took him home.
We were living in DC at the time, so we decided to show him the city. We have pictures at the monuments, the White House, the Supreme Court, the Folger, the IRS, with tourists, etc.
It's fun to interact with the passers-by while doing this.

Appropriate, as the song originated in Australia.

This is sending my inner crouton-petter crazy. I’m so happy for the bin! After years of doing nothing but carrying rejected stuff up and down the guy’s drive and being otherwise ignored, someone finally looked at it and really saw it and made it feel special!

My life is tiring sometimes.

So the garbage man coming down the street noticed that Carl's bin wasn't on the footpath for garbage collection and he shouts out "Carl, where's ya bin?" and Carl sitting on his front step, smoking a durry says "I bin on holidays, mate!" and the garbo says, "nah mate, where's your WHEELY bin?" and Carl says "ya got me. I've wheely bin in gaol."

BTW, me and my kids used to feed the great great great great (30 years worth) grandparents of those ducks.

I went to a restaurant in Mackay and ordered Chicken Parmagiana. When the meal was delivered, the waitress announced "here's your chicken in pyjamas - don't know why they call it that, looks nothink like them bananas in pyjamas."

Early one morning, about 6am, a man walked up to me and said "do you know where I can get some mice?" and I asked if he was going to feed them to his snakes. No, he was a taxidermist.

Mackay was an interesting place to live.
