Deep conversation between father & daughter. A little levity in our continually stressful times, especially this past week. Tiny beagle Lilly has SO MUCH to say! (SLYT)

Little Lilly is feisty and clearly has a lot to say! (Reminds me of the Lili I used to petsit for.)

That was weapons grade cute.

Watching this video of all the sounds a beagle makes from had me missing our beagle who suddenly passed away a few years back. He wasn't the most lovable dog in the world, but he was ours. And you know, each of the sounds is tied to a specific memory, like the the time he was snoring and somehow rolled over into a piece of furniture. He freaked out and ran away and then for a good week was VERY careful when walking around that chair. Or the content sigh he'd make the first time he got to go under a blanket in the winter. Fall always had the ritual of him being kind of disgruntled about life until we pulled the couch blankets out of storage.

The ones that got me most though where the little whines. We have a saying that nothing is sadder than a sad hound. There are levels of ennui that can only be properly expressed by a dog with a droopy face and ears and a white tipped tail that slowly droops with disappointment. Most of them involve the fact that the dog has never ever been fed, and would like very much to taste food at least once, preferably what ever happens to be in your hand at that moment.

Anyway, I'm gonna go pet my current dog, who is a much better dog, and who has in fact never been petted, not even once.

Gygesringtone thanks for sharing that video. So many of the sounds reminded me of my white shepherd Anna. Especially the melodramatic and introspective whines. Anna used to talk whole paragraphs if she felt wronged. Especially amusing when she did it during a 3 minute sit stay exercise at obedience training class with the entire class as an audience.
Miss my doggo.

We had two beagles for about 16 years. Went to the shelter to adopt on dachshund/beagle mix and somehow came home with her and her friend, a full beagle.

I think he keeps barking, "I'm the Dad!" And she keeps insisting that she's cute. She's right, of course.

This was extremely cute, but I had to turn it down after a few seconds because Lilly was deeply confusing one of our cats.
