In the wake of Uvalde, perhaps we should adapt and revive an old chant from the Vietnam War protests:

"Hey, hey, NRA. How many kids did you kill today?"

I think it’s really tough to hear the NRA people say what they say, but it’s important to understand what they are saying. If only to keep a pulse on their unhinged arguments.

Well, there's not really that much significance in the timing of this event relative to a recent mass shooting despite some people trying to make a thing of that small fact. I wonder how many decades back in time they would have to schedule the event to NOT hold it just after a mass shooting?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I have no doubt that in some board room somebody said "If we cancel it for this mass shooting, we'll have to cancel it for any mass shooting and then we'll never get to meet." The nuttiest fringe would add "And then all they have to do is fake a mass shooting to get us to cancel our meeting."

They didn't cancel for Columbine and that's back when it was still shocking and nobody knew it was going to be a regular thing.

'Give me a vest'

Sez the farmer mom who was arrested for trying to save her kids, was released, and then ran in and saved her kids during the Uvalde killing.

The cops gave her no vest. Instead they tried to stop this TV interview from happening
