I'm fond of this terrifying beer commercial as well.

this is your captain, folks, if you look out the windows on either side of the plane, you can see we're passing thru the creepy section of the uncanny valley... ummm we should be through this turbulence in approximately seven months, and then we'll begin our descent into singularity international, where the temperature is 72 degrees and sunny we know you have a choice in airlines and we thank you for flying WTF

Whew I was first thinking "content warning? For pizza?"... Then the body horror started......

I've been having vivid dreams ever since I started taking anti-depressants. Pleasant ones, I get to see my dad who died 32 years ago, which is just wonderful. Anyhow one common theme is that architecture keeps morphing. The neo-classical buildings in my city become kaleidoscopic, the veins in the marble swirl and pulse. Windows merge together or split like amoebas.

These dream landscapes are so similar to this kind of AI weirdness I'm convinced there's some kind of correlation, like the resting brain with consciousness and perception turned off is doing something like these AI are.

Don't worry about me - my dreams are quite pleasant. This is a fucking nightmare.

Had the thought the other day that both image and text neural models have a chronic problem with hallucination. Humans, in general, hallucinate far less, except while dreaming. What if the evolutionary purpose of sleeping/dreaming is an optimization regimen to train hallucinatory neuron-patterns out of our brains? Like, while digesting the day's memories, the brain does some test runs to see what erroneous patterns spontaneously arise on their own with no external input, and then downweights those pathways.

I guess what I'm saying is we need to figure out how to give these poor machines a chance to sleep.

I guess people are working on the simulations that AI from Roko's basilisk is going to need to be able to run to punish people. That's what we're seeing here, right?

Oddly plausible, because, once upon a time, this was a real ad for a real restaurant.

Ah, 1993, when TVs and TV ads were widescreen.

I dunno, I thought the breakdancers flying up into the air and merging into each other were genuinely cool. The Cronenberg School of Dance has arrived and I am here for it.

It is too early in the morning for my brain, I had to nope out halfway through. And that’s saying a lot, I’ve been on the internet for far too long and I’ve seen things.

Will try again later once I can fully steal myself to the horror.

I did OK until the shot where the guy is eating a pizza nugget (??), which appears to be eating him back. That was enough.

These are not all truly just AI doing its thing, right? I mean obviously the results are filtered and maybe even augmented with inputs by humans in order to maximize the funny lol aspects while eliding the more boring nonsequitors?

I got a suspicious feeling looking at a similar product, the Goosebumps series "as imagined by machines," and it turns out that the inputs really were just a human thinking of random humor text and pairing that with Midjourney images. They are funny, too. Just not as machines doing their own thing and coming up with CrAZy and hilarious results, randomly!!!!!!

Also, maybe everyone has known this all along and that's part of the bit and I'm just catching up late ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
