This is a very odd way to find out about a volcanic eruption. Shame it is sunset, and the webcam isn't showing much.

USGS Site with a couple better pictures from about an hour ago. "as seen from the Cascade Volcano Observatory Office roof, taken approximately at 5:30 PM, PST. Plume is drifting east-northeast after reaching approximately 36,000 feet above sea level. "

I saw the initial ash plume out my window before it was lost in the haze. Pretty sweet.
