That was quite lovely.

Lovely indeed. Two weeks ago I had my first long-term girlfriend get in touch with me - we hadn't spoken in 8 years. She found me on the internet. It has been a remarkably enriching experience :O)

No greater friend hath a man than one who will conceal his snogging with an open coat. Most charming.

C'est trés magnifique!

I especially loved the French onomateopea, but I'm a dork like that.

Hah! You misspelled onomatopoeia. Caught you...

I really enjoyed that, thanks rom1!

Good find. I was reminded of Art Brut's Emily Kane.

Délicieux.
Et parfait pour un samedi froid et pluvieux.
Merci, Romain.

Ok, clearly I need to explain this again: I am a grumpy curmudgeon. The kind of person who kicks puppies and steals children's candy.

But if you people keep posting wonderfully charming little bits like this, there is a very real danger that I could have a moment where my heart is warmed.

And no one wants that.

Heh. I googled for a girl I "dated" in sixth grade, and found a news article about her, but no personal information. I didn't care as much as that dude though, she dumped me three times.

Those French have a different word for everything. Even in English.

i really expected that to be a "so we met again after years, and whadya know, now we're married and have seventeen babies, how funny" story, but was pleasantly surprised to find it touching, but not that painfully hallmark.

This was beautiful. Life rarely turns out as you expect, but sometimes that's the best part of living.

Now I finally have a phrase for trying to keep myself from thinking of hopeful possibilities for fear of being disappointed: "No movies."

Here's the original French version, if anyone else is interested. Virginie, une histoire qui sent de la colle Cléopâtre. (Virginia: a story with the scent of Cleopatra glue)

Wonderful find rom1. I found myself laughing, getting teary eyed and loving this Kek guy.

A charming, touching story to which I can really relate, having done the same looking for and finding childhood sweetheart thing myself.

Kek's blog. Two photographs of Kek (blond).

That was lovely. And I've just wasted spent roughly 3 hours reading the guy's blog, which is also very fun.

Thanks very much for this!
