"No One Told Me the Price of Admission Would Be...a BROKEN HEART!"

The Woodstock Festival ended forty years ago today, on August 18, 1969* -- and roughly, um, two years later, Marvel Comics was there! Writer Gary Friedrich and (wildly overqualified) artist Gray Morrow bring you an improbably cleanly tale of romance that first appeared in issue #14 of Marvel's My Love (November 1971): "It Happened at Woodstock!" (Guest-starring Janis Joplin, among others.)

*...Although the story in question would have you believe it was 1968.

Hey e-spouse? What's the haps? What? You want monogamy? Look, baby! When I told you I loved you, I really meant it ...but not the way you took it! I mean, I love lots of people...and you're just one of them! Dig?!

MetaFilter Spouse-a-rama: my big romantic adventure.

FUNKY IS UP!

(I still have that pinback button, and for some reason it seemed appropriate to say that.)

Funniest think that happened at Woodstock was Pete Townshend absolutely clocking Abbie Hoffman with a guitar. Hoffman always insisted it never happened.

Did Rick just sleep straight through Woodstock? What a square.

Rick was mindful of his precious bodily fluids, is all.

I was talking to some of my younger brothers' friends yesterday and they had never even heard of Woodstock. What is this world coming to?

And the kids working in my kitchen had never heard of Nirvana or frigging Pol Pot. Go figure.

Also, super worth seeing: Woodstock, the documentary. Sly And The Family Stone never sounded so funky.

I lost my heart to a long-hair named Flowers!

Flowers? I'll bet anything his real name was Herman. Also, she probably saved herself from crabs. So there are two upsides.
