While some of these photos are disturbingly hi-res, those watches are beautiful and I would like one now please.

Very impressive. This article provides an interesting story regarding Dufour's start as in independent watchmaker.

Some close-up comparisons of Simplicity and other top-end watches.

I'm a Timex guy, but I can also appreciate a work of art.

The Timezone Independent Horology forum is a goldmine for this sort of thing. (Here's a post from a guy who's just received his Dufour Simplicity - it took three years(!) from order to delivery.)

(And if we're talking independent watchmakers... Urwerk. Especially the 202.)

It's delivered in an armored car … and left on his doorstep?

Given that he took the picture of the armored car, he was probably there.

I hate posts like this! Why can't someone invent a grand complication mechanical watch and just give it to me because I'm awesome?

Please?

I wish I had the means to put one on my wrist. Art and science were never so beautiful.

I find it freaky that there seems to be a lot more French-themed or French-personalitied posts since this week where I started making good on my resolve to learn français.

Well, this guy is Swiss.

Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Triptyque and Jaeger LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon 2

Son of a watch repairer.

I'm officially hard now.

A quick check on Ebay for the Gyrotourbillon confirms my suspicions: it's about $319,000 out of my price range.

Wonder if they'd throw in free shipping?
