Shining Cuckoo Clock

The Shining Cuckoo Clock. The clock mimics the moment from the film, and every hour Jack breaks through the door and the famous line "Here’s Johnny" plays followed by a scream by Shining co-star Shelly Duvall.

Could this guy make me an alarm clock where Scatman Crothers takes an axe to the chest? Because that would surely wake me the fuck up.

Oh, there are so many Kubrick films you could refer to with cuckoo clocks.

- Dave and the pod bay doors (I'm sorry Dave)
- Major Kong riding the bomb (yeehah! whoooohhooohoo!)
- Spartacus being released into the arena (we who are about to die salute you!)
- Wakeup with Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann banging a garbage bin (Reveille! Reveille! Drop your cocks and grab your socks!)
- Alex jumps out the window (Beethoven's Ninth Symphony)

Oh man would I ever hate these so badly

Cool concept, but I would never want this, and here's why: IT HAPPENS EVERY HOUR FOREVER.
I can't even deal with clocks chiming hourly.

That remains one of the most shocking and arresting moments I can think of in all of film history. Damn, that scene is brutal.

But why the hell is there no VIDEO of this clock doing its thing? Duh? Helloooooo?

I vaguely remember (or misremember?) a scene from the novel involving a clock, with some kind of murder acted out by the little characters that come out of the clock, and being disappointed that it was not included in the film. But I don't really remember enough to know whether that would have anything to do with this particular clock or not.

How about one that lovingly lingers on Nicole Kidman's bare tush for one hour every hour?

Shelley Duvall does look bad. I'm still waiting for my Aliens Chest-Burster Cuckoo Clock.

Barry Lyndon get shot in the leg in a duel with his son (It was in the reign of George III that the aforesaid personages lived and quarreled; good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor they are all equal now)

Maybe they know that seeing it in action once, even on video, would satisfy any desire you might have had to experience it further: "Yeah, OK I get it... moving on, now..."

I remember this scene - it was a clock with two figures that would come out at the hour (a man and a woman) and they would dance, or whatever, and then return to the holes from whence they came.

Danny watches it at one point, and the man flips the woman upside down and they start "kissing peepees", which makes Danny look away in disgust.

At another point, I don't remember whether it's Jack watching it or Danny (I think it's Jack), the figures are replaced by a man and a boy. The boy is wearing a dunce cap, the man has a roque mallet. The man starts hitting the boy on the head, the inside of the clock fills with blood.

One Flew Over the Clockwork Nest? (maybe not Kubrick, but still Nicholson!)

My mom has a bird clock. It's not actually that annoying!
My ex's family had an honest-to-gosh cuckoo clock. That did get a little annoying. Twelve cuckoos (and their echos) and a little countryside dance would last at least a minute.

Now that's a clock I'd buy

(though it would also lose it's 'charm' 3:00)

As someone who once spent a week sleeping in the guest room of a person who collected clocks which chimed, dinged, cuckooed, and tolled, with the hour, I can assure anyone who hasn't experienced it, novelties like this are funny exactly twice. The first time you see it, you think "Oh, neat." The second you chuckle because, neat, right? The third you are done.

By the 50th, you are casually looking around for a croquet mallet with which to "accidentally" and repeatedly smash the thing.
