I’VE BEEN WORKING ON MY QUEEN MUSICAL!!!!

This reminds me of the fact that awesome webcomic Daisy Owl (previ-ously) hasn't updated since June, with zero word from the author. :(

I, uh, ok.

Rhaomi, I too worry about the Daisy Owl guy. I just hope he's okay.

Also, Metafilter? I'm sorry. My Queen musical has been postponed. Indefinitely.

I'm not sure what's deeper into uncanny valley territory - the Megan Fox sim that caused one blogger to apologize for lack of posts, or Megan Fox herself.

Sorry I'm posting, I just don't have anything to say.

Yeah, I've been worried about Ben Driscoll too.

The woman who writes in the voice of her cat about getting scammed over false virus alerts is some kind of cis-internet being. I cannot conceive of anything else.

When I was first looking for a place to host my Meet The Lady blog, I turned at first to blogger. Sadly, meetthelady.blogspot.com is already taken by some lady in Singapore who posted one time. If ever a blog deserved a "Sorry I haven't posted" update, it's this one. That one post, entitled "Sadness/Disappointment," is brilliant in its opacity:
"Hatred..Disappointment..Sadness..these are the negative feelings that we often encountered in life. "

"I wonder what is J decision? to quit or to stay? worst still when his mum told him fortune teller predicted that he do not have "yuan fen" with his bosses..it seems quite true!"

"My only advise is: - Make yourself more marketable and valuable so that opportunites will be everywhere!"
Ultimately I couldn't even complain about the domain being taken, because it's the very stuff that Meet The Lady is made of.

Daisy Owl creator Ben Driscoll posted a comment on Cracked (where the comic sort of got its start) explaining the situation. The short of it is that he's fine, but the comic became a chore instead of something he enjoyed doing.

A couple of these I thought I was reading McSweeney's pieces.

EVOL
would be a good title for the Queen work

thats LOVE spelled backwards.

I'm prepared to accept that Garfield/selling out/disinterest in one's art/zombie comic strips/etc. are all very very bad, but how did Jim Davis become the internet's own personal Hitler?

This reminds me, I haven't commented on MeFi for a while.

This is probably the main reason behind the discontinuation of most labour-of-love websites/comics/blogs/etc. (it certainly was for mine).

I'm surprised there's not more content here considering that the standard doesn't seem too high and there are so many examples.

I seem to recall that a constant post announcing non -posting for a time said something about "going on hiatus." damned. Had to look that word up. Thought it was some sort of hernia a guy got.

Sorry I haven't posted -- my hiatus is acting up lately, and it's affecting my prostrate gland. I've been out flat on my stomach.

On a similar subject, I think it was on defective yeti that I saw one of the greatest excuses ever: "Sorry I'm late, my housemate put spaghetti in my shoes."

The weird thing about the Daisy Owl shutdown is that it wasn't just a labor of love -- it was his job. As in, he quit his regular job in order to work on the comic full-time, earning enough through merchandise to be self-sufficient. It seems odd he'd just drop the whole thing at the height of its popularity for no real reason apart from "it was getting tedious."

Isn't that reason enough? Money isn't everything, especially if you already have some.
He probably had enough saved up where he could take his time getting other work. He's doing freelance programming or something like that now.

I've heard that threnody before.

I'm not sure how I feel about that one. Vowels in the stressed syllables are too dissimilar. I'd be happier with "absentee" or "atrophy."

Those are still near-rhymes, though. If you were going to be completely anal about it, you'd need another word ending in "-apsody."

I read this as "her cat getting scanned". Yeah, need to sleep more.
