Multiverse club?
Coherence is a good one that fits this category.

Edit: oops, I see it was already mentioned and already has a FanFare thread.

Anyone else watching Servant?
I'm watching this, and enjoying it for the most part.

Desperately Seeking New Shows
It's a bit old by now but Recitify has probably some of the best acting of any show I've seen in the last several years, and I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix now. You need to watch several episodes to get into it though.

Horror Book Club?
I'm into a book club, I've been reading a bunch of horror fiction and there's so much dross it's hard to find the good stuff. I'm cool with a tag as a starting place.

Suggestions for a good book to start with? I've been reading a lot of Laird Barron recently and I liked his recent short story collection Swift to Chase, where a bunch of the stories are linked to one another (and then there's a total rando space opera story about a cyborg dog). There are also a bunch of… [more]

New post type - "Should I watch this?"/Spoiler-free "Reviews of"
I like this idea, although I suppose one could arguably post an Ask Metafilter question about this kind of thing, too. I've been wanting to ask people who have watched the show Persons of Interest about what parts of the kind of dumb-seeming first season I can skip in order to get to the apparently better stuff later in the show, for example. Anyways, I could see some value in "spoiler free discussions about a particular show / book series / etc" that aren't… [more]

Tana French novels (The Trespasser etc) - any interest?
Ok, cool. Maybe I'll put up a post for the first book in a few weeks or so? I've been meaning to go back and reread them anyways.

Horror Fiction Club?
I'm interested, although despite reading the threads I've had scant time to comment in the horror movie club posts, so I don't want to over-commit. I've recently been reading a lot of horror short-story anthologies and kind of feel like I enjoy short stories more than novels in this genre, but I'd be glad to get some recommendations for good novels too.

X-Files: the good parts?
I'd definitely be up for some random discussion, but don't have a very good memory for these things. This list of 10 good episodes from the AV Club might make a good starting point.

Books and/or games?
Thanks for the update pb, I guess I must have missed the metatalk thread.

Game of Thrones - Free for All
I hear that they are decent SD versions with a blurred out watermark you don't really notice in the lower-left corner. They seem to be leaked screeners, presumably given to a reviewer or something.

Dinklage has always seemed sleepy or a little off or something when I've seen him in interviews. I think he might be a bit too arch for that format in general.

The Man in the High Castle?
I enjoyed the pilot a lot. The novel is definitely in Dick's top three, and I always thought it was probably one of the most amenable to cinematic adaptation. I'd be up for discussing it.

MeFi Horror Club: A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)
Oh, great. I thought the movie was really good when I first saw it, but I haven't gone back to re-watch it. I thought Kim's more recent film I Saw the Devil was pretty good too.

Horror Club 2.0 Brainstorming
Yeah, I was enjoying following along with the discussions even when I didn't have much to say, or more frequently when I just couldn't find the time to actually watch a movie.

MeFi Horror Club: #18 - Ju-On; #19 - VHS Viral
Did these ever get posted? I don't see them in the archives, but maybe I'm just not finding them.

I could take on a post or two as well. I was following the discussions with some interest, but wound up being too busy for one movie a week.

(Also I don't want to have watched the benighted V/H/S: Viral in vain!)

FanFare series and "ownership"
Does it really matter who makes the post? My feeling is, if the post isn't there and you want to discuss the show, why not just make the post yourself? The more interesting part is the discussion, right? I guess I'm not really seeing what practical difference it makes.

MeFi Horror Club: New Rotation Slot Idea
I'm definitely into the crossover category, and in general of using a very loose definition of "horror" overall. As long as the actual movie is interesting, I'll watch it, even it it's more "hyperviolent thriller" than "horror" per se. But maybe other folks have a more narrowly-focused interest?

I also like the idea of a rotating person-who-chooses-movies slot. I think DirtyOldTown has been doing a great job with the selections so far, but… [more]

MeFi Horror Film Club, #7: John Dies at the End
I missed the last one but I'm definitely in for just about any of the films which have been discussed so far. I remember being very impressed with Tesis as a sort of meta-horror film and I have an interest in that particular subgenre because of its reflexive nature.

I thought I Saw the Devil was good, though I think the similar and slightly earlier Korean film Chaser is a good deal more interesting - those… [more]
