How do I help low level developers?
Sounds like more than anything you have a bunch of CSS template builders who have randomly been plunged into pretending to be developers, but are not that and maybe don’t want be that.

I probably would not want to be in this situation but if I was here’s how I would approach it: make use of the characteristics of React where it’s highly component driven and predicated on a data flow from top level elements to lower level ones.

Make use of a… [more]

Also: if changes to the JSON breaks things then, obviously, you need to have a bunch of tests that will break that will tell you that is going to happen.

If individual issues are the way you want to go the Marvel Unlimited app is pretty cost effective.

Obviously Wicker Man Is Included
My kid is obsessed with Knowing, which is utterly bonkers and I would totally recommend.

Notes;
Nick Cage is haunted by mystery figures who appear to be Eminem in this movie
Nick Cage appears to live in Disney’s The Haunted Mansion, this is never remarked on.
Once Nick Cage starts googling numbers or putting things on a whiteboard some really wild stuff is about to happen.

So that would be my recommendation.

Suspected borderline mother crossed a boundary. What to do
You are going to want healthy boundaries. They sound like a person who takes healthy boundaries as a challenge, due to borderline or w/e - similar cases I know if it was bipolar, and will want crash through them continuously. There’s not really any great fixes for that which don’t involve not being around for them to do that, so getting a new job, disentangling your life from them, in extremes leaving the country etc are the way to go.

(Getting a new partner that… [more]

Wikipedia correction: do something or let it go?
ALL of those things are factually incorrect. They're also not footnoted on the page.

Going to echo others in saying that removing uncited material from a BIPOC should be pretty straightforward and nothing anyone should be challenging. Policy is pretty clear here.

Honestly I think this is a case where that is fully acceptable and okay to be above board about. If there dies end up being some kind of issue please keep us updated here.

Recommend podcast discussions of books, movies, and music?
I feel like you are really going to dig some Ranged Touch podcasts. Fairly lefty deep dives on things which are very accessible but the hosts have critical and academic backgrounds which they can bring to bear in interesting ways. I’m a fan of Just King Things, their sequential Stephen King walkthrough, which has been interesting enough to keep going with past the big 70s/80s stuff I started listening for, and recently they’ve started Shelved by Genre - “a show about types of literature and the… [more]

Travelling as a new US citizen without a US passport
It's the UK, so there is a waiver program however that still requires filling out a form in flight, the conditions for which I probably would not meet.

Beastie Boys Story is basically the only thing you will ever watch on Apple TV + , and is essentially an Ad Rock/MikeD TED talk, but is compelling enough its worth your time to set up the free trial/get the free year that comes with an Apple device.

Are Heavy Metal and 2000 AD Showcase still worth a sub?
2000ad writer here, of course it’s worth it.

Though if you don’t want to take my word for that 2000ad app and websites both have a Free Issues section that should give you a taste for both modern and classic 2000ad, as well as a story of mine set I. The movie Dredd universe.

If you’re interested in getting into the weekly comic I’d keep an eye out for a “jumping on Prog”, which is something they’ll do semi-regularly where every strip in the… [more]

How do I deal with feeling left out?
Also realize that as a woman you will not be able to remain best friends with a young man who is looking to establish serious relationships or marriage. We all thought we could and we were all wrong

Seconding that this is nonsense.

How do aspiring fiction writers get better at plots?
Okay, I have to think about how I actually do this, and it may not be applicable to everyone, and it should be noted that everything I write tends to be in the procedural mode with an emphasis on action-adventure, and also highly episodic because its comics and that's the way they work. I also am very much an outline first writer which not everybody is, some people just wend their way through the story and eventually get to the ned - I can't imagine doing that, it sounds like chaos.… [more]

Oh, important thing, once you get to that "having an outline" stage of writing a story: Just because you have an outline doesn't mean you can't deviate from it once you've started writing.

(If there is an editor involved who has explicitly approved the story in the outline that may not be the case. Ehhhh... make sure you leave lots of hand waving room in the thing. A sale-able outline is a whole thing in itself and may not be the exact same thing as a working plot outline.)

How to be totally Square at the comics convention
The concern is the center provided wifi might be a bit spotty, and someone with a phone might wander off. Also most of the people present may be using UK phones.

Are you experienced?
If you're a writer, presumably you enjoy using language to achieve some end. Coding is the same thing. They're called programming languages for a reason. Just like writing in English, it's all just syntax.

I find them to be radically different skills, TBH, but I would say that there's nothing magic or special about programming as a skill that anyone used to logical problem solving shouldn't be able to pick it up. It's essentially writing an… [more]
