I tried this in a small town a few years ago - it failed (lack of interest).....one of the reasons I moved back to NYC! - and would totally be interested in doing this with some infrequency (as mentioned above, this is a wide net). I've been to socrates cafe and "the dialectic" - both hosted on meetup.com here in NYC. The organizers of these were (and are) heroic! State some preferences! Saying "somewhere to meet" in NYC is like saying "buy me some food" from a supermarket. I'm not joking; within 0.6 mile walk of 23/9 st (center of chelsea) there are >700 bars and restaurants. Food? Drinks? Type of food/Drinks you like/don't like? Price? Swanky/Casual?

I cannot make it but I recommend pouring ribbons highly. Their cocktails are delicious and interesting, and the bar has a cool vibe. Note that there is a doorman there sometimes...usually no dresscode midweek (I think)......and mile is right about their snacks.

Yes! Druids is meh, although sufficiently out of the way of the tourist hordes. Bwookwyn is groovy, but how about a change......Perhaps something classy near druids? Cocktails Great bar, although if our group was too big, then on the rocks would be too small. Craft beers Thoughts mefites?

These are awesome, but FYI when I went to one ~1y ago, 20 minutes "early", it was JAMMED (no seats availablem big lines). They are popular events......get there w/plenty of time to spare if you wanna seat.
