Are there any good translations for Journey to the West?

I am very excited about the upcoming show American Born Chinese, which appears to feature Sun Wu Kong/the Monkey King of Journey to the West fame. I'd love to introduce my kids to the stories, which I think are a lot of fun. Are there any decent translations with good art in English of Journey to the West?

How do I save everything on the services that are shutting down?

I am over the photo limit on Flickr and keep getting reminders. Amazon Drive is shutting down at the end of 2023. And I just got a notice from Shutterfly that Share Sites are shutting down effective 3/25/2023. What's the best way to download everything?

How do I get my representative to do enact something for me?

I am deliberately leaving this vague for privacy reasons and am asking on behalf of a friend. We would like for our state to enact something that will provide funding for a cause we believe in (and that is already on the books in another state) and am passionate about. We have reached out to our Assemblymember but got a response that we should come up with a "legislative proposal" and provide reading materials before they'll even schedule a meeting with the Assemblymember.

Does this exist? Cut-resistant dishwashing gloves.

I am trying to use dishwashing gloves to be better on my hands, which get dry and cracked. It's not fun. However, I keep poking holes in them with the knives and sharp edges of things I wash. I don't like having to replace my gloves every few months. Is there such a thing as cut-resistant dishwashing gloves? Or do I need to just give up on that idea?

Can you educate me about California's educational reform proposals?

Recently I've seen a few articles about CA's proposed new math framework, and how some school districts are doing away with D/F grades. I don't feel like I have a good grasp about why and what exactly reformers are proposing.

Where are the good search engines?

I am just about out of patience with Google as a search engine. As an example, a search on the "Instacart strike" returns results from 2020 for the entire first page. (It's been like that this entire week.)

I just read this article this morning saying we should be wearing better masks to protect from covid-19 and the newer variants.

Too many onions

I have a lot of yellow onions right now (like, at least 5 pounds). What should I do with them?

Please give me all your potato recipes

I currently have 20+ pounds of russet potatoes. Please give me all your favorite potato recipes. I would especially like a really good potato salad recipe.

Manage Passwords not showing for Internet Explorer 11?

I have to use IE 11 for work. I need to change some passwords, but when I click on the Manage Passwords button in the AutoComplete section from the Internet Options menu, nothing happens. No menu pops up, no error message, just nothing. Please someone tell me how to fix this?

BIPOC terms of use

How is the term BIPOC supposed to be used? Is it supposed to only refer to Black and Indigenous people of color, or is it supposed to include Black, Indigenous, and all other people of color?

Should we keep our kids home from school due to COVID-19 concerns?

Trying to figure out how paranoid to be about coronavirus. We live in the Bay Area in the Tri-Valley area.

Is there a transcript for #MLKNow?

Is there a transcript for #MLKNow events, especially the live chat between AOC and Ta-Nehisi Coates? I just do not have the patience to watch something for an hour and all I can find are snippets and quotes of the conversations.

Fun Asian American newsletters to read?

I recently asked this question, and I definitely loved the suggestions and subscribed to them. But what I realized I'm actually hungry for is for some fun Asian American (or diaspora? I'm not sure about the term) newsletters to read.

Fun newsletters to read?

I would like to read some more email newsletters (whether from Substack or somewhere else). Currently I subscribe to Nicole Cliffe and Anne Helen Peterson's newsletters, but I would like to read some different things and perspectives.

Is there a blog/page similar to Hidden LA for the East Bay?

I love the Hidden LA Facebook page for highlighting the offbeat, unusual, great things that go beyond the tourist-trap stuff for Los Angeles. I was wondering if there's something similar for the East Bay (specifically not San Francisco)?

How to buy affordable kid-friendly furniture?

First post - just moved to the Bay Area, and (un)luckily for me, I now also have to replace a lot of furniture. The last time I bought major pieces of furniture was about ten to fifteen years ago.
