Needs washed
When Mother would start cleaning the house and picking up items, she always said I've got to red up the house. She was from West central Pa.

Pride Flag identification
I say we replace flags of any sort with pageant banners. How chic would that be?

Friend-Shaped? More like Fiend-Shaped amirite?
I've always been inordinately afraid of bears. For many years. I don't live near bears. I've only seen them in zoos. Some of it has to do with their vocals and heavy breathing. You would think this would deter me from looking up stats and YouTube videos of bear attacks, but you would be wrong. I may need to buy some bear spray in case one wanders onto my suburban backyard.

The Tourist Trap
Glad I did European travel when. I was 19 in 1967. It was great fun, not overly crowded. I can't imagine doing it now.

I do the cover with a lid technique, after adding a teaspoon of water. The steam cooks the top of egg wonderfully. No need to flip.

The most intense potato flavor you've ever experienced.
How good can a dang tater taste? We do something called salt potatoes. Smallish white thin skinned ones you put into boiling water with several cups of salt. They taste like a potato.

My strong memory of us neighbor kids copping some taters from their houses to be cooked later that night when we would sleep out in a tent in one of the kids backyard, or even the nearby small wooded area. More likely the later cause we would build a campfire and throw out taters into it. 30 minutes later the outside skins were basically charcoal and the interior under cooked and hard. We weren't going to wait 45 minutes as we had no patience. We would peel away the black charcoal skin and salt… [more]

Basically the fetish equivalent of proclaiming “I love vanilla lattes”
Just go to Pornhub ,girl! There are many groups/sites that advocate carrying/ being carried. It's like a thing. Last year it was tiny Fendi bags, this year it's being carried. Money may have to change hands, but that's a reasonable thing. After all it's a service. Ask me how I know.

I could run forever, but I won't get far (free thread!)
My medical issues are resolved. Cataract surgery is a life changer. 9mm kidney stone laser blasted and removed. I asked if I would be awake and the surgeon chuckled and said you do not want to be awake as I remove the bits and pieces of the stone through your penis. Over COVID now, despite being fully vaccinated. It was the worse. Went from 225 lbs to 175 lbs in two months. I'm putting the pounds back on by way of baby blue cheese on Italian bread. Oh, had stent removed from the kidney stone… [more]

ArtfulCodger. My Urologist insisted I do 3 liters of water daily. I can get to about 2.5 so far. Have your brother do lots of water with a squeeze of real lemon juice into it. The citric acid helps dissolve the beginnings of new kidney stones. Made sense to me.

I get the THC gummies for my brother who has ALS. Me being the caretaker. I'm 77 so it's not the easiest thing in the world. We have a great dispensary here in WNY, several actually. It's all done legally after getting a script for the medical marijuana. For several years I signed him up via a NYS webpage. It was over complicated to say the least. But they had online help at their call center. I needed them to help me maneuver. This year they did away with them being able to talk you thru it. I… [more]

Yes, The Temple of Dendur was a gift to the American people from the Egyptian government. We were instrumental in it's saving from being flooded and buried. Also, since 2021 the Met Museum has disassociated itself from the Sackler family and no longer features it's name on any of its galleries.

Well, you know you can't take it with you
This is just a small part of my brothers collection of stuff. Some he orders from Amazon, some from other sites. He;s slowly dying from ALS. I'm his caretaker and since ordering things with his money brings him joy, I don't intervene. There are other piles like this in his house. I live in the house also. I try to keep it somewhat orderly and clean. This pile needs my attention as you can see. When he goes, I will have the biggest garage sale(is that the term) ever)...30 hockey and football… [more]

An Interview with Painter Daniele Serra
Has control of the medium. Watercolor can be difficult, acrylic washes likewise. Would put this in the illustration category. Will it ever grace the walls of some chic Soho gallery? Doubtful. But I admire the artistic skill and control of the medium.

The History Of The City Of Las Vegas
How odd. I just went to YouTube looking to see if there were any new versions of Miss Saigon. And before you enter a search term, there are always some offerings shown on the page. Various ones, not Miss Saigon. Lo and behold the first three shown were the History of Las ,Vegas. It's a sign. Now I have to watch them.

MiraK. I went to art school in my early 20s. Mingled with poor and wealthy classmates.Visiting their homes, the wealthier ones, there was often opera or classical music playing in the background. My background was lower middle class, so no opera in our house. But I was of course mainly into folk music and rock and roll. I guess it seeped on slowly is what I'm saying. I am by no means an opera buff. But I do watch it occasionally. I love the spectacle of it. The massive stage sets. And the lovely… [more]
