I love this! Thanks for making it. I also looked for "cock" before opening this thread...

Love this! Thanks for doing it.

Any movie scene, rewritten like a Michael Bay movie
wow -- for some reason I find the recasting of Roman Polanski as a tall Asian man weirder than the sudden appearance of Bumblebee, but this is glorious.

INT. SHADOWY ALLEY - NIGHT

A sleek, black sports car ROARS into view, coming to a halt in a cloud of dust. Out steps JAKE GITTES (Jack Nicholson), a hard-boiled private investigator, silhouetted against the pulsating neon lights of Chinatown.

Suddenly, a MYSTERIOUS… [more]

In Which Dr. Strange Swears Like A Normal Person
I think this has pretty much run its course, but FYI to anyone outside Canada that I've turned on a geoblocker for the back end of the site (which the password function requires) because for whatever reason I've been getting dozens of brute force attacks every day recently, and I'm going to shut this off at (more or less) the source until the bots get tired and move on to a new target.

Every .horse domain
This is great. I did not read "beefart" as "beef art".

So I made a Wordle clone (with some extra features)
I appreciate the direct and explicit crediting of Wordle, thank you for doing that.

Airships: Conquer the Skies
I bought this in pre-early-release years ago! Looking forward to revisiting it.

Jerk in Progress - a daily sobriety/accountability podcast
I forgot to mention that today's episode is atypically long.

The Tiniest Gallery
Thanks, everyone! Updated today on my two-week rota with "Sasquatch" by local watercolour painter Melodie Papp.

Python for poets.
Great idea -- I'm pretty much your target audience, and have been self-teaching Python for at least two years now, off and on, very very slowly. Wish I'd had access to this kind of resource when I was starting out.

Habit Judo
The link in the main post is dead, and the iOS store no longer lists it as available. Is this project dead in the water?

How tall is Jack Reacher?
Aww, shoot: I forgot to give credit where it's due for one of the charts, too.

Sad Girls On ESPN
I like the concept.I think I'd like it even more without the captions. Some of them feel a lot more mean than funny ("designated fat friend?" Seriously?) and it kind of kills my enjoyment of the idea itself.

GoodListnr
This is brilliant with TWO users in the room; I can only imagine how awesome it would be with four or five.

I check the tally bar at the top of the MeFi main bar every time I log on, but never click through and sit passively; largely because after a couple of minutes I forget I have it in a tab and then either close the browser or get the living shit scared out of me when somebody uploads a tune.

Parody "I'm Voting Tea Party" Shirts
I remember back when Tim Robbins did "Bob Roberts" and people were asking why he wouldn't release the soundtrack, which was dead-on satire and not bad musically besides, and he said that he could easily foresee hearing it played by people completely unaware that it was supposed to be a joke.

Hm.

Painting with John (Lurie)
John Lurie is, like, the last of the Renaissance Men or something. Musician, actor, writer, artist, and actually good at all of it.

Dark Valentine Magazine
Downloaded and am reading. It's lovely!

If you're open to constructive criticism -- and feel free to ignore this -- the only art-direction choice I really wasn't on board with was the use of Various Interesting and Theme-Appropriate Fonts for the story names. I certainly understand the motivation, but it's a bit jarring for me, as a reader, and as an author, I feel my titles can stand on their own.

As a f'rinstance, would Clive Barker's… [more]

Bolaño Bolaño
Wow! Can you remind me before your reading group starts? I intend to read 2666 and to start it over the Xmas season. E-mail (or links to same) is in my profile.

Obama vs. McCain (Mac vs. PC) ads
NoScript keeps blocking things and telling me it's intercepting "clickjacking" errors. Not sure if this will be a problem for new visitors or not.

Ivy League Elitists
I'm also inclined towards including Democratic Ivy Leaguers, with -- since the page's stated purpose is to refute the claim that only one "side" has these people on the team -- the default page display being Republican staffers, and Democratic ones viewable with a button. Even if there are more Ivy Leaguers on one "side" than the other, the effort of counting/comparing will surely drive the message home, and nobody can accuse you of being unfair.

McCain: The Mavericking Maverick Mavericks More
As I mention in another blog thread, I have made a half-hearted attempt to find some seminal Wonder Woman material so I can chronicle Sarah Palin’s bewildered attempt to enter and understand Man’s World, but there really isn’t much out there with the word-for-word power or recognition of DKR.

The real McCain/Palin truth squad
I think it would be more effective if you presented it as a straight-up "Truth Squad" site; the current "LIAR LIAR" layout will basically drive off anyone who takes McCain/Palin seriously before they begin reading, and then you're just singin' to the choir.

Blank It webcomic
I'm enjoying it so far, but I'm hoping you don't go the "realize they are comic characters" route, as that's pretty much drawing from the same well as (fellow Keenspotter, IIRC) Damonk's Framed!, from waaaaay back in the late '90s.

The Venerable Bédé: an English-language resource focused on European comics
I hadn't thought about that! Initially I think I'll keep focusing on print (I'm only one guy) but that's a good idea for branching out, especially if more contributors get involved.

Experiment testing for mirror reading
"Thank you for participating!

I would ask for your continued participation by asking you to email a link to the experimental page (http://leo.urbanacademy.org)."

I don't know what that means.

I'm not that familiar with Harry Potter, but enought that mirror-recognizing "Hermione" wasn't nearly as difficult as it should have been. Random words probably wouldn't be the best idea (that's not really… [more]
