Rogerian Therapist Bot
Neat! I took a quick look at the JavaScript and wasn't able to figure out how it worked -- I see the transcript(s) of sessions and I understand that your JS is parsing through it. But how does a user's input affect what is generated? I think I see that if a keyword the user says is explicitly mentioned by a patient in the transcripts, then you set a flag to 1, but then what does that flag do? I last touched JS many years ago so I am likely missing something obvious.

Metafilter Usage Graphs 2018-2021
Tell Me No Lies, thank you for this project.

If it's easy for you to crunch the numbers on unique posters per week and say approximately where it's at now, I'd appreciate it.

Tell Me No Lies, I did mean unique posters (by which I mean: unique users making front-page posts), thanks. I have made an effort to make frequent posts to the blue and am curious about how rare I am.

The Manual, by The KLF, cleaned up and proofread
WOW. I had never heard of this book before, I think. I am so grateful to you for making and posting this! I just gulped it down.

What a funny, edifying, and honestly inspiring HOWTO.

The bit about peppermint!

autoconf 2.69b
sammyo: in the release announcement, scroll down to the NEWS section, starting with "* Noteworthy changes in release 2.69b (2020-07-13) [beta]".

Thanks for testing.

I wrote an LWN article you can now read about the rejuvenation of Autoconf, what it entails, and what's next.

linocut print: A Powerful Culture
There's great danger in imagining one's nation to be inevitably, every-justifiedly the future; there's a contrasting humanity in being able to imagine being the past, being history, and looking with care towards those who follow after.
THIS THIS THIS.

A great piece, a compelling writeup, thank you.

Bug Report! zine
THANK YOU for making and sharing this. Sharing these experiences is so great. The hypnotic nature of "An Ode to the Modern Office", the resonance of "Remote", and the _conversation_ regarding why those two people left -- I appreciate these a lot.

Obscure Reference, my sympathies; ageism in the industry is awful and rife, and I'm probably going to get hit by it starting pretty soon.

I'm not one of the people in that conversation, but I can cite one specific related part of Brooks's writing. The last time I reread Mythical Man-Month I was struck by the sexism in:

A team of two, with one leader, is often the best use of minds. [Note God’s plan for marriage.… [more]

The Revolution, Brought to You by Nike
IT IS SO GOOD. It feels like a specification for something that Nike or a similar brand could actually take up and run with. It's amazing.

Andrhia, can you talk about what, if anything, is particularly realistic or unrealistic in the whole pitching/client briefing process in this story?
